FAQ

First time on the snow or curious to have information about skiing? Questions and answers to satisfy your curiosity.

Where is the meeting point with the instructor?

All individual and group lessons, unless otherwise agreed, start and end at Crest, in front of the ski school office, 50 meters to the right of the Champoluc-Crest gondola lift arrival.

Is it possible to have lessons at Frachey?

Only by prior agreement with the ski school and only during off-peak periods. Not available during high season or on weekends.

How long is a lesson?

Each hour-long lesson lasts 55 minutes, with the remaining 5 minutes allowing instructors to prepare for the next lesson without delays.

In what cases is the lesson refunded?

The only case where a refund is issued is if the ski area is partially or fully closed. Bad weather or other external factors are not valid reasons for a refund.

Where can I find information about purchasing ski passes?

The reference website for purchasing ski passes is: monterosa.skiperformance.com

If I book a ski lesson, do I get a discount on the ski pass?

Yes! The ski school can provide a promo code that entitles you to a discount on a ski pass covering the first two gondolas (Champoluc-Crest / Crest / Alpe Ostafa) plus access to the conveyor belts (Fontaney 1 and 2). To get this code and instructions on how to use it, please contact the ski school office.

Where can I rent equipment?

At the gondola lift departure area, there are five well-equipped rental shops to help you choose the right gear for your needs. However, there are NO rental shops at Crest. We do not have special agreements with any rental shop.

At what age is wearing a helmet mandatory?

The law that came into effect on January 1, 2002, states that a ski helmet is mandatory for minors under 18 years old when practicing alpine skiing, snowboarding, telemark, sledding, or tobogganing. Failure to comply may result in a fine of 100 to 150 euros.

How many lessons are needed to learn?

There is no definitive answer to this question. It is highly subjective and depends on many factors. Generally, a block of 3-4 lessons of 2 hours each yields good results.

At what age can one start skiing or snowboarding?

For skiing, we recommend starting no earlier than 3 years old, although much depends on the child’s physical development. The important thing is not to push or force it if the first experience with snow isn’t positive.

For snowboarding, the typical approach happens a bit later, when the child is more physically developed. We recommend waiting until at least 5-6 years old.
